The Water Information System for Europe - Links

WISE has linked to
several other frameworks both within the Group-of-Four (Go4) framework and
external to other organisations. Following non-exhaustive links may facilitate
the access to information from these sources:

Go4 framework:

E-PRTR - The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register is a Europe-wide register that provides easily accessible
key environmental data from industrial facilities. http://prtr.ec.europa.eu

INSPIRE - The INSPIRE directive from 15 May 2007 aims to create a European Union (EU) spatial data infrastructure. This will enable the sharing
of environmental spatial information among public sector organisations and better facilitate public access to spatial information across Europe. http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/index.cfm

EDCs - Environmental Data Centres provide, similar to the Water Data Centre in
WISE, easy searching, viewing and download functions for data related to the
	themes. http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/european-data-centres.

GMES - Global Monitoring for Environment and Security is the European Programme for the establishment of a European capacity for Earth
	Observation. http://www.gmes.info

EMODNET - The European Marine Observation and Data Network integrates existing, but fragmented initiatives in order to facilitate access to primary data for public authorities, maritime services, related industries and researchers. http://bio.emodnet.eu/, http://www.emodnet-geology.eu/, http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-5040, http://www.emodnet-chemistry.eu/portal/ and http://www.emodnet-hydrography.eu

European Atlas of the Seas is for anyone interested in the maritime world and our common maritime heritage. It was developed to raise awareness of Europe's oceans and seas, in the context of the EU's integrated maritime policy.
http://ec.europa.eu/maritimeaffairs/atlas/about/index_en.htm

Other organisations:

UN Water - UN-Water strengthens coordination and coherence among UN entities dealing with issues related to all aspects of freshwater and sanitation. This includes surface and groundwater resources, the interface between freshwater and seawater and water-related disasters. http://www.unwater.org

Water utility associations and industry networks represent several water professionals and scientists with an interest in WISE data services and with a potential to share data from own sources:

EUREAU: http://eureau.org/

European Water association (EWA): http://www.ewaonline.de

International Water Association (IWA): http://www.iwahq.org/Home/

European Water partnership (EWP): http://www.ewp.eu/

Water supply and sanitation Technology Platform /(WssTP): http://www.wsstp.eu/site/online/home

ENP - The European Neighbourhood Policy has since 2004 transformed relations between the EU and its neighbours in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and the South shore of the Mediterranean. Monitoring water quality and quality as well as management of urban wastewater are high in the priorities and WISE infrastructures may serve for ENP inspiration. http://ec.europa.eu/world/enp/index_en.htm

International conventions are via their secretariats and implementation processes major providers of monitoring data, reporting methodologies and assessments:

Regional Sea conventions – an international entry point is available from: http://www.unep.org/regionalseas/

Baltic Sea area: http://www.helcom.fi/

North-East Atlantic area: http://www.ospar.org/

Mediterranean Sea: http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/environment/water_protection_management/l28084_en.htm & http://www.emwis.org/

Black Sea: http://www.blacksea-commission.org/main.asp

River conventions, e.g.:

Danube: http://www.icpdr.org/

Rhine: http://www.iksr.org/

Elbe: http://www.ikse-mkol.org/
