Measure description
Cleaning of gravel beds with the aim of restoring associated communities and functional relationships (spawning nursery room, shelter, etc.).
Cleaning of wreck (s) with the aim of restoring associated wreck communities and functional relationships (spawning nursery room, shelter, etc.). It is a continuation of previous initiatives (including Fishing for Litter) under the Federal Marine Litter Action Plan.
Renewal of the Belgian Federal Marine Litter Action Plan, established in 2017 to prevent macro- and micro-litter from both land-based and marine sources.
Reduce the amount of ship-generated waste released into the marine environment by monitoring and enforcing the MARPOL discharge ban and additional sensitisation (including recreational shipping).
Marking of fishing gear (cf. IMO Action Plan) and aquaculture installations as an incentive to report or retrieve lost (fish) gear. In this way, the quantity of abandoned and conspicuous (fish) gear (ALDFG
Develop appropriate indicators for micro-waste in the marine environment to feed into the monitoring programme.
Promoting knowledge and environmental awareness in maritime training so that students are aware of the impact of anthropogenic activities on the marine environment, including in their future working environment.
Phasing out of fish lead in recreational fisheries: continue existing initiatives on alternatives and awareness raising extension to Green Deal
Developing a standard methodology for and carrying out a cumulative impact assessment of activities taking place within BNZ (holistic approach)

Progress description
Zie maatregel ANSBE-M012
