Description overall status
Evaluation methods for food webs and ecosystem structures (D4) and the corresponding criteria D4C1, D4C2, D4C3, D4C4 are not available or are still under development, a specific condition assessment was not possible. A variety of anthropogenic pressures are manifested in impairments to the quality and abundance of habitats, as well as the distribution and abundance of species. They all have a significant impact on the ecosystems and food webs, whose condition is therefore considered to be not good for the German Baltic Sea waters. For the current evaluation of the ecosystems, including the food webs of the German Baltic Sea waters, the definition of good environmental status of 2012 has been provisionally checked. In addition to the assessments according to the WFD, FFH-RL and ASCOBANS, detailed results from the biodiversity assessment were also included in the HELCOM State of the Baltic Sea report. At the level of individual species groups and habitats, usable results are available for the German Baltic Sea waters for: - Benthic habitats - Pelagic habitats - Fish - Seabirds - Marine mammals
