Description (status of criteria/indicator) |
Large construction works are regulated via EIAs and must aim for 0 impact solutions or compensating measures.
Thermal discharges from industry may result in improved conditions for heat requiring organisms. A known example is Ficopomatus enigmaticus. |
Large construction works are regulated via EIAs and must aim for 0 impact solutions or compensating measures.
Salinity changes are known from fjords that are regulated by systems of dams and locks. |

Description |
Changes in hydrological processes caused by new construction works or land reclamation have been subjected to EIAs and resulting mitigation measures. This is a well established proces that is exemplified in DK by the two large fixed links projects between the islands of Sjaelland and Fynen and between DK and SE, that both aimed for 0-impact solutions. |

Description (activities) |
Large construction works are regulated via EIAs and must aim for 0 impact solutions or compensating measures and are therefore not ranked. Coastal water regulation activities in historical times have resulted in alteration of coastal marine habitats. Industry cooling water discharges result in local alterations in temperature and salinity. |

Information gaps |
Hydrological processes and impacts of new activities influencing these and the impacts of such activities on species and habitats are investigated in relation to the specific new projects. Information gaps will therefore be bridged as necessary. |
