BAL_DK_RG_001: The Danish definition of Good Environmental Standard (GES) has been based on the following principles: - The GES definitions have been formulated in Danish. It is the Danish version that has been through public consultation and has been politically approved. The paper version in Danish of the Danish Marine Strategy submitted on the 15th of October 2012 is, therefore, to be regarded as the formal document with regards to GES definitions. Should there be inconsistencies between the Danish paper version and the English version as reported in this database, the Danish version will apply. - The definition is based on an ecosystem based approach (as defined at the joint HELCOM/OSPAR Environmental Minister Meeting in 2003 in Bremen, Germany). - The GES definitions have been established for the entire Danish sea area. Each definition applies to both the Baltic Sea region and the marine subregion of the Greater North Sea, including Kattegat. - Denmark has not defined seperate assessment units and has, therefore, not established seperate GES definition for particular areas. - The GES definitions are qualitative. No treshholds etc have been defined. No GES indicators have been defined. - GES definitions have been defined at criteria level for descriptors D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6 and D11. - GES has not been defined for two criteria, D3.3 and D11.2. Explanation for this is given in the comments field data base table: frmMSFD - formular, sheet 9_GES - GES definitions have been defined at descriptor level for descriptors D7, D8, D9 and D10. |
