Status Description |
Seagrass meadows are considered to be among the most important marine ecosystems, with regard to both ecology and biodiversity and for the services they provide. Recent evidence has indicated a global trajectory of decline for seagrasses with a current loss rate of about 9% yr–1 , although Posidonia oceanica meadows are still the major habitats in eastern Mediterranean Sea. |
