GES description
Αξιολογήθηκε το κριτήριο D1C2, που αναφέρεται στην αφθονία, κατανομή και δημογραφικά χαρακτηριστικά των ειδών του Παραρτήματος ΙΙ της Οδηγίας των Οικοτόπων (Habitat Directive,92/43/EEC), π.χ. θαλάσσια θηλαστικά, κητώδη, θαλασσοπούλια. Για τα περισσότερα είδη φαίνεται ότι η κατάστασή τους βελτιώθηκε κατά την τελευταία εξαετία σε σύγκριση με τις προηγούμενες περιόδους. Ωστόσο, δεν επιτυγχάνουν ακόμη το «ευνοϊκό καθεστώς διατήρησης», όπως αυτό ορίζεται στην Οδηγία των Οικοτόπων. Προς τον σκοπό αυτό νέες θαλάσσιες περιοχές προστέθηκαν στο υπάρχον δίκτυο Natura 2000 της Ελλάδας.
