Q5f - Description of programme for GES assessment
The monitoring collects data and information of the amounts and types of litter by established methods. That is considered to be adequate for assessing GES in 2018. Research projects to study impacts of litter on marine life are going on and the understanding of GES, in that perspective, is expected to be achieved by 2018. The monitoring supports indicators which measure the distance to GES. The monitoring has just started and it is not yet possible to assess whether it is sufficient to detect the inter annual variability.
