Description criteria |
Beach monitoring is run on 12 sites. Results indicate that the highest densities are found from urban beached (2800-6050 items per ha). Similar amounts can, however, be found from some natural beaches.
Seabed litter was surveyed on two years. On urban seabed 2000-5000 items per ha were found. On natural seabed only 1.1 % of the surveyed sites had items; most often in the Gulf of Finland. Threshold is trend based and no trend is yet available. Results are presented in the indicator and national assessment report Chapter 5.3. |
Micro litter was surveyed in the offshore Gulf of Finland. Densities were typically ~10 items per cubic meter; mostly fibres. |
