This vessel fleet is numerous and includes commercial and non-commercial fishing, passive and active gears, and operates mainly in shallow coastal waters. |
Named vessels use mainly bottom trawl nets for demersal species and dredges for collecting shellfish. They operate in inner and open sea waters and partially in extraterritorial waters. |
Majority of these vessels are purse seiners that operate inside territorial waters. |
Shellfish are subjected to commercial and non-commercial fisheries and are collected mainly by hand and dredges (beam trawls). |
