Integration rule description parameter |
The HQI is based on the assessment of 13 metrics. Each metric was assessed by calculating the amount of deviation from the baseline condition. For each WFD coastal water body, the score (deviation) from all the metrics is summed. The sum of all the recorded deviations gives the Total Deviation (Stotal). The maximum possible deviation for each water body gives the Maximum Deviation (Smax). A Hydromorphological Alteration Index (HAI) is calculated by: HAI = Stotal/Smax. The HQI is calculated by HQI = 1 HAI. The index categorises a water body into 5 classes. In this analysis a waterbody was considered to be in GES when a score of 0.7 or higher was reached. |

Description overall status |
The amount of physical loss of the seafloor as quantified through D6C1 is low and as such are not expected to significantly alter hydrographical conditions. Although disturbance due to bottom trawling is widespread, the extent of disturbance on the seafloor
from trawling would also not result in changes in hydrographical conditions. |
