Activity1: Fishing can be considered the most widespread and relevant source of human pressure in the assessed area; the role of other activities must be carefully investigated according to the ongoing MSFD implementation Activity2: Land-based activities/industries: Coastal, riverine and atmospheric inputs from land - agricultural run-off, forestry and emissions may alter ecosystem productivity leading to localized anoxic events. Activity3: Land-based activities/industries: Coastal, riverine and atmospheric inputs from land - municipal waste water discharge may alter ecosystem productivity leading to localized anoxic events

Information gaps
Knowledge of recreational fishery (FC5) needs a substancial improvement by integrating collected data (tonnage, power, days at sea) on recreational fishery targeting bluefin tuna and on other activities included in this category. A full census of Italian recreational fishermen is required to assess the magnitude of FC5 together with fishing gears used and catches. A future data collection for FC5 may be the basis for the assessment of this fishing category and may allow a first regulation of Italian recreational fishery to be established.
