Target assessment description
Between 2012 and 2017 exceedances of EQS and MRLs for pollutants (both UPBT and non-UPBT substances) were found: 1) 9 substances from 56 substances or compounds tested in water (16% of substances did not reach GES values), 2) 4 substances from bottom sediments tested 12 substances or compounds (33% of substances below GES values), 3) 3 substances from 11 substances or compounds tested in biota (27% of substances below GES values), 4) 3 substances from 6 substances or groups of substances tested in food (50% of substances below GES values). The goal of "reducing the release of hazardous chemicals into the marine environment" has not been achieved.
