Threshold Value
Good status takes into consideration the fact that sightingsa of turtles in 2012 occupy the whole extent of the assessment area
No thresholds can be set since the status is being extrapolated from the habitat condition.
Two out of three of the criteria assessed are indicative of moderate status; None of the criteria are indicative of poor status.
Good status:Population size is within the 90-100% range of the baseline population size; Moderate status: population size is between 75-90% of the baseline population size, and population size can be recovered through a reduction in current pressures
Good Status: Annual Survival Rates >90%; Moderate Status: Annual Survival Rates <90%, but has potential to recover should pressures be addressed.
No significant change in distributional range.

Good Status: Annual Survival Rates >90%; Moderate Status: Annual Survival Rates >90%, but has potential to recover should pressures be addressed.
No significant change in distributional range for past twenty years

Status Description
Due to the fact that data on poplation demographic characteristics is not available.
Due to insufficient data in terms of population size and condition
Since the only data available as an indicator of population size relates to trends in by-catch data. Although there seems to be no significant decline in turtle by-catch, the link with population size is not deemed sufficiently robust to determine status in terms of population abundance.
Mainly in relation to a deterioration in habitat condition
Classification as 'moderate' status takes into consideration the potential for recovery of population condition through control of pressures. This has been based on data from the SPA, Rdum tal Madonna. Trends in status of population condition is based on expert judgement.
