The Habitats Directive (Council Directive 92/43/EEC) integration method was applied. Since three of the four criteria were assessed and all three were determined to be good/stable, turtles as represented by C. caretta in Maltese waters as part of the marine sub-region can be considered to be in good status. Integration at species level was not required since C. caretta is the only species representing marine reptiles in Maltese waters.
