In the Dutch part of the North Sea, 49.7 percent of the surface area meets good environmental status. About 45.6 percent of the Dutch North Sea is located in the Eastern North Sea. The remaining 4.6 percent of the Dutch North Sea that does not comply concerns the river plumes and the Northern Delta coast. There, chlorophyll-a concentrations are too high. Nutrient concentrations are tested, but are not included in the integrated assessment of the environmental status (see D5C1).
