LFI index achieved GES (0.82) in 2012 and has decreased since than to the value of 0.45 in 2016. LFI value for demersal fish excluding cod dropped from 0.42 in 2012 to 0.10 in 2016.

The criterion was assessed based on Large Fish Index (LFI1) which is assessed based on the biomass determination of demersal fish exceeding 30 cm of length. Catch numbers per length per haul of demersal species are to be converted into weight-at-length. The sum of biomass of individuals is then to be calculated, grouped into size class: larger than 30 cm. For every year, these sums are to be divided each by the sum of total biomass of the species caught in the BITS, resulting in an LFI value for each length threshold defined in the GES - boundary concept.
