Target description
Reduce by-catch mortality of Alca torda, Morus bassanus and Puffinus mauretanicus (adaptation of 2012, Cont.16)
Reduce the population of the species Larus michahelis (without compromising their viability) in order to limit the pressure of this species over other species of seabirds.
The breeding population of the aggarra (Calonectris diomedea borealis) of the Berlengas Natural Reserve increases by 15 % by 2019

Target assessment description
Pressure Target Implementation indicator: By-catch mortality rate (D1C1)
Pressure Target Implementation indicator: By-catch mortality rate (D1C1)
Unknown target status. The effect of the pressures identified in the breeding population in Portugal with an incidental catch (trapping) (incidental capture and predation) in the demographic parameters of the species has not been assessed and it is not known whether it is possible to explain the observed decrease over the last 15 years and its relative importance. The most recent stock estimate refers to the year 2015, and it is therefore not possible to assess whether the population levels have increased since then to meet the target established in the Monitoring and Action Programme of the MSFD (MAM, SRMCT, SRA, 2014). For this reason, it is considered necessary to obtain additional data that would enable the setting of a target to be supported in the analysis of the impact of anthropogenic pressures on the population.
