Target description
The number of new introductions is minimal and if possible close to zero in the next evaluation cycle
Improve monitoring and surveillance for early detection of new NIS introductions, mainly at high-risk identified sites
Reduce the population of the Phorcus sauciatus species on the island of Santa Maria, promoting the exploitation of this invader resource.

Target assessment description
Apesar da monitorização regular em áreas de alto risco de invasão (portos e marinas), a proposta de um limiar zero ou próximo zero não é realizável pelo que esta meta será integrada na meta nacional D2.PT.M1
Esta meta apesar de parcialmente atingida ainda não foi totalmente atingida pelo que será integrada na meta (nacional) D2.PT.AZO.M1. A monitorização tem sido conduzida através de financiamento externo (projetos) não tendo sido possível implementar um programa regional.
Durante o ciclo não foi possível estabelecer / legislar sobre o consumo / exploração deste recurso. No entanto, a Direção Regional das Pescas tem em curso um estudo de viabilidade económica da exploração do recurso. A intenção de diminuir a população da espécie de Phorcus sauciatus, na ilha de Santa Maria (D2-AZO-M1), promovendo a exploração regulamentada deste recurso invasor, ainda não foi possível, no entanto, a Direção Regional das Pescas contratualizou com a Universidade dos Açores um estudo de viabilidade económica da exploração deste recurso.
O objetivo da meta foi reformulado, contemplando a atualização das lista de espécies por via da monitorização.
As metas definidas em 2018 com o propósito de "desenvolver e implementar metodologia adequadas, de modo a obter informação, para permitir avaliar o BEA até 2024", foram integradas na meta nacional de forma a garantir uma uniformização de metodologias, a nível nacional, que permitam obter dados comparáveis entre as 3 subdivisões.
Já foram identificados os locais pertinentes para a monitorização, nomeadamente no mar territorial e nas águas oceânicas da subdivisão da Madeira.
