Develop and implement appropriate monitoring methodology to obtain information to allow assessment of GES by 2024.

Target assessment description
Melhorar mapas de distribuição dos habitats e biótopos marinhos costeiros e oceânicos, bem como atualizar a avaliação da sua condição ambiental e implementar a validar o indicador proposto para os descritores D6C3 e D6C5 para a subdivisão Açores. O nível de epibiose indicava a porção relativa da colónia que foi afetada por qualquer epibionte/parasita visível (por exemplo, zoantídeos), variando entre 1 (sem epibiontes registados) a 5 (danos máximos).
As metas definidas em 2018 com o propósito de "desenvolver e implementar metodologia adequadas, de modo a obter informação, para permitir avaliar o BEA até 2024", foram integradas na meta nacional de forma a garantir uma uniformização de metodologias, a nível nacional, que permitam obter dados comparáveis entre as 3 subdivisões.
Já foram identificados os locais pertinentes para a monitorização, nomeadamente no mar territorial e nas águas oceânicas da subdivisão da Madeira.
