Target description
A.1 Input of nutrients from human activities shall decrease decrease until it does not cause concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in the marine environment which prevent good environmental status from being maintained or achieved
B.2 Hazardous substances in the marine environment supplied by human activities must not cause adverse effects on biodiversity and ecosystems. B.2 Hazardous substances in the marine environment introduced through human activities shall not cause adverse effects on biological diversity and ecosystems.
D.1 The seabed area that is unaffected by human activity shall have an extent and distribution that does not jeopardise the maintenance of the structure and function of habitat types and their functions, or the connectivity of habitat-typical species. Modification 2025: The target is more clearly related to human impact. The two indicators are deleted but moved to the new target D.4.
D.2 The area of biogenic substrate must be maintained, or increase. Change 2025: The target is no longer needed since the aim of it is now included in the new target D.4 where it is included as an indicator.
D.3 Permanent alterations in hydrographic conditions owing to large-scale activities, either individual or collaborative, may not negatively affect biological diversity and ecosystems.
D.4 Impacts on the seabed as a result of human activities shall not jeopardise the conditions for maintaining the structures and functions of the seabed for each habitat type, or jeopardise the conditions for recovery of functions that have been degraded as a result of human activity.
E.1 The marine environment shall, as far as possible, be free from litter. Change 2025: The target has been devided into two separate new targets (E.5 and E.6) for the Swedish part och the North Sea and the Baltic sea because of the great differecies in status between the areas. The indicators used for assessing the targets are also changed especially regarding the target values.
E.5 The amount of marine litter in Västerhavet should be at a level that does not prevent good environmental status from being maintained or achieved.

Target assessment description
The target is achieved two of three MRU. For description of the target values for the indicator, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheet.
For description of the target values for the three indicators, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.
The assessment is based on expert judgement because of lack of indicators.
Change 2025: The target is no longer needed since the aim of it is now included in the new target D.4 where it is included as an indicator.
The assessment is based on expert judgement because of lack of indicators.
The target is achieved in one of three MRU. For description of the target values for the two indicators, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.
Change 2025: The target has been devided into two separate new targets (E.5 and E.6) for the Swedish part och the North Sea and the Baltic sea because of the great differecies in status between the areas. The indicators used for assessing the targets are also changed especially regarding the target values.
For description of the target values for the two indicators, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.
The target is achieved in the four northernmost of the nine MRU. For description of the target values for the indicator, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.

The assessment is based on expert judgement because of lack of indicators.
The target is achieved in the five northernmost of the nine MRU. For description of the target values for the two indicators, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.

The indicator for litter on beaches achieve the target values but not the one for litter on bottoms. For description of the target values for the two indicators, see HVMFS 2012:18 and the indicator fact sheets.
