GES description D6 Sea-floor integrity/D1 Benthic habitats
Impacts of human activities do not result in significant damage to the physical substrate and the biological structures on the seabed and deterioration of associated biological communities. The special habitat designated as endangered or vulnerable at the national level or by regional agreements (Bucharest Convention) and European legislation (the Habitats Directive) is effectively conserved by appropriate national and regional mechanisms
GES description D6C1 Physical loss of the seabed (6.1)
GES description D6C2 Physical disturbance to the seabed (6.1)
GES description D6C3 Adverse effects from physical disturbance (6.1.2)
GES description D6C4 Benthic habitat extent (1.4, 1.4.1, 1.4.2, 1.5, 1.5.1, 6.1.1)
1.4.1 GES could be defined by the habitat "1140-3 Midlittoral sands with Donacilla cornea" regaining its historical distribution area

1.5.1 GES could be defined as the habitat "1110-3b Shallow sands with Donax trunculus" maintaining its present extent
GES description D6C5 Benthic habitat condition (1.6, 1.6.1, 1.6.2, 1.6.3, 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3, 6.2.4)
Fish: the diversity in the structure of the fish communities is maintained at a high level

Mesozooplankton biomass, open sea, 1966-2009

Phytoplankton biomass, coastal, spring, 2006-2011

Phytoplankton biomass, shelf, spring, 2006-2011
1.6.1. GES is defined by the population of the characteristic species- the bivalve Donacilla cornea- attaining densities equal or larger than the threshold
Threshold values % of criteria with values (no. of criteria)
33.3% (9)
66.7% (3)
Proportion of area to achieve threshold values % of criteria with values (range of values reported)
0.0% (0 - 0)
66.7% (100% - 100%)
