Description parameter |
The extent of hydrographical changes for the assessment period 1983-2017 is 6.947 square kilometers, which is 0.811% of the MRU’s total area. In 2012-2017 the changes extend to 0.538 square kilometers, interpreted as a notable increase in the permanent alteration of hydrographical conditions. |
Adverse effects by hydrographical conditions alteration were estimated over 0.131 square km of infralittoral sands that correspond to 0.17 % of the total habitat extent in the MRU.
The outcomes contribute to the assessment of the extent of overall adverse effects under D6C5. |

Description criteria |
The marine unit is characterized by a very high degree of technogenic pressure due to construction of various types of coastal structures. For the period 1983-2017 changes in the hydrographical conditions are assessed only in the nearshore, as their combined total area comprises 0.811% of the MRU’s total area, while in 2012-2017 the changes extend to 0.538 square kilometers. This marine unit is determined to be subjected to the largest permanent alterations of hydrographical conditions along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. |

In compliance with Directive 2017/845/ЕC and Decision 2017/848/ЕU the changes in hydrographical conditions were assessed based on comparison of pressures on the marine environment estimated for a selected reference period (reflecting the earliest available shore state unaffected by human interference) with that of the reporting period 2012-2017. As a reference year was adopted 1983, while evaluation periods are 1983-2017 and 2012-2017. |

The Marine Reporting Unit is characterized by a low degree of technogenic pressure due to construction of various coastal structures. There are no hydrographical changes during 2012-2017, while in 1983-2017 the changes are assessed only in the nearshore, as their combined total area comprises 0.011% of the MRU’s total area. In comparison to other marine reporting units along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, this is the unit with the second smallest changes in the hydrographical conditions. |
