Description overall status
There are no clear trends in recent years for the populations of cephalopods and an assessment of the current state of the various cephalpoda populations is not possible at present because of the uncertain data situation. As a general rule, the assessments should be based on the migration and wide spread of many octopus in biologically relevant reference areas, which generally exceed national competences. Therefore, the evidence base and valuation methods for conditions and pressures affecting octopus should be improved as well as regional coordination and evaluation by OSPAR.
