Description |
There were insufficient data. The appropriate date will be provided in the second cycle of the MSFD reporting. |
Marine litter from seabed are represented by wood, plastics, fishing nets, petroleum waste packed, textil and metal waste. There is no variation concerning the spatial and temporal distribution. Accumulations of marine debris along the benthos can result in habitat degradation due to smothering, abrasion, and fragmentation of sensitive habitats and habitat forming species, such as macroalgal beds. |
There were insufficient data. The appropriate date will be provided in the second cycle of the MSFD reporting. |
Abandoned nets represent an important threat to demersal fish. Petroleum wastes packages have impact on seabed habitat and associated communities through smothering. |

Description (activities) |
The shipping activities have impact throught various types of garbage containing metals and plastic. These waste are not easily biodegradable and are generated by the operations of vessels at sea or at ports. Abandoned nets represent an important threat to demersal fish and benthic communities. |
