Fitoplankton: Koncentracija klorofila a v referenčnih razmerah je okoli 0,15 µg/L (referenčne razmere za Jadransko morje, ugotovljene na podlagi modeliranja). Nadalje je za referenčne razmere značilno, da se fitoplankton preko leto prekomerno ne namnoži, kar predstavimo z indeksom visokih abundanc fitoplanktona (v referenčnih razmerah IE = 8 %, izračunano na podlagi podatkov na referenčni postaji v slovenskem morju). (3) Historične referenčne razmere: Po starejših zapisih je pozejdonka poseljevala več območij v Tržaškem zalivu, po letu 1960 pa je prišlo do obsežne degradacije. (2) Meduze: Na osnovi skoraj 200-letne serije podatkov o prisotnosti meduz v severnem Jadranu smo z valčno analizo opredelili periodičnost pojavljanja (okoli 8 – 12 let). V zadnjem obdobju se perioda skrajšuje, nekatere vrste (Aurelia aurita s.l., Rhizostoma pulmo) v zadnjem desetletju beležimo vsako leto. (3) Ni še dovolj razpoložljivih podatkov. (1) Referenčna točka je postaja 000F v J delu Tržaškega zaliva, kjer je vpliv s kopnega najmanjši, čeprav še zmeraj zaznaven. Referenčne razmere ustrezajo mediani podatkov na 000F (TN 22,6 µmol/L, TP 0,3 µmol/L, NO3 1,3 µmol/L, PO4 0,06 µmol/L, prosojnost 10 m). (3) Trenutne referenčne razmere. IHT vrednosti nad 0,80. V referenčnih razmerah v združbi makroalg v zgornjem infralitoralu prevladujejo vrste iz rodu Cystoseira; EEIc vrednosti nad 8,9. Gostota usnač mora biti nad 50 osebkov/100m^2 transekta. (2) Trenutne referenčne razmere. V primeru kolenčaste cimodoceje imajo listi v referenčnih razmerah najkrajšo dolžino (v povprečju okoli 11 cm), frekvenčna porazdelitev dolžine listov pa je ln-normalna; MMSkew<0,15. Za pozejdonko je to gostota šopov nad 1100 šopov/m^2. Referenčne vrednosti za bentoške nevretenčarje mehkega sedimentnega dna v globini 7-10 m so definirane za posamezne metrike: AMBI = 1,34; Shannon Wienerjev diverzitetni indeks H' = 5,87; število ugotovljenih vrst S = 91. (1) V letu 2008 in 2009 smo pridobili vzorce, na podlagi katerih se razvijajo indeksi za oceno hidromorfološke spremenjenosti obale, ki se bodo verjetno lahko uporabili tudi tu. (4) Zooplanktonska biomasa: Referenčne razmere smo opredelili na osnovi dolgoročnega niza podatkov za zooplanktonsko biomaso v Jadranskem morju iz obdobja 1971 – 1981.
