Monitoring strategy description |
Cyprus has implemented the program code MALCY-D09 that includes the sub program MALCY-D09-01 (contaminants in commercially important fish) in the geographical area of MAL-CY-MS. Under this program/subprogram, pollution in seafood is monitored. Species collected per the UNEP/MAP, the Barcelona Regional Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea, and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (2008/56/EC) are Mullus barbatus and Boops boops and they are analysed for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, lead, cadmium, mercury, and 40K. Thunnus alalunga and Xiphias gladius are only collected for mercury analysis. The DFMR (2020) report demonstrated from 2013 to 2019 all parameters were below the standards for all fish species measured. The report noted that only the European regulation 1881/2006/EC can set permissible levels for contaminants in seafood. |

Monitoring programme is based on current knowledge about the quantities of contaminants and shape according to current national monitoring programme of contaminants in fish and shellfish (NN 79/2008,13/2013). Based on the results it was decided that sampling is performed once per year. The measured values of contaminants in fish and shellfish should be compared to maximum permitted levels set out in the Regulations EC 853/2004 and 1881/2006. |

The GES of Program D9 – Contaminants in seafood is classified as being in partial coverage. In order to obtain GES, Cyprus is going to measure as many contaminants as possible in different species of fish and seafood, covering the coastal and marine waters with representatve species, that are at the same time the main moct consumed species in Cyprus. |

Programme description |
The Cyprus contaminants-in-seafood monitoring programme focuses on a pressure, contaminants, and evaluates their concentration in commercially important species of fish. Many of the contaminants monitored by the programme were decided jointly with other Mediterranean EU member-states. The programme capitalizes on the existing monitoring programme in the framework of MedPOL (UNEP/MAP) already measuring contaminants in biota, as well as radionuclide monitoring in the framework of a programme implemented by the Department of Labor Inspection of Cyprus under the auspices of the IAEA. The contaminants-in-seafood programme addresses in whole or in part the indicators of Ecological Objective 09 adopted by the Contracting Parties of UNEP/MAP (2013). |

Salvamento Marítimo (SASEMAR, Dirección General de la Marina Mercante) registra información de las incidencias relativas a posibles episodios de contaminación en el mar, a través de su programa de vigilancia aérea y satelital y su sistema de información de emergencias, que alimenta la base de datos de la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Marítima (EMSA). Desde 2019, SASEMAR también alimenta el informe
anual de Vigilancia Aérea que publica el Acuerdo de Bonn, suministrando las contaminaciones registradas en la Zona del Golfo de Vizcaya incluida en el acuerdo.
En el marco de este programa de seguimiento se llevará a cabo un análisis de la información facilitada por Salvamento Marítimo, que previsiblemente incluirá la fecha y coordenadas geográficas del punto del accidente, el origen del vertido, así como su extensión y volumen.
De la base de datos de los posibles incidentes de contaminación en el medio marino, se seleccionarán aquellos episodios que hayan dado lugar a manchas contaminantes con una superficie mayor de 1 km2
y con origen conocido.
Esto permitirá descartar su acumulación o reiteración en determinadas zonas. En caso de que durante la vigencia de este programa de seguimiento se alcanzara algún consenso a nivel regional o europeo sobre la definición de evento significativo de contaminación aguda, este programa se adaptaría y se comenzarían a aplicar los términos
acordados.
Para los casos en que se produzca un episodio de contaminación aguda, el MITERD tiene previsto publicar una Guía de actuación ante fauna petroleada, en coordinación con las CCAA, en la cual se basará el seguimiento de los efectos adversos de estos episodios sobre especies marinas. |
El muestreo y análisis de los contenidos máximos permitidos se efectuará según los Reglamentos (CE) 1881/2006 y 333/2007. |

Program Monitoring onesnaževal v užitnih tkivih ulovljenih ali nabranih morskih organizmih je del rednega spremljanja onesnaževal v živilih, ki jih spremlja Uprava Republike Slovenije za varno hrano, veterinarstvo in varstvo rastlin (UVHVVR, MKGP). Pri izboru živil in onesnaževal, ki so vključena v letni program vzorčenja, se upošteva veljavno evropsko zakonodajo, različna priporočila Evropske komisije, neskladne vzorce iz preteklih let in objavljene notifikacije o neskladnih vzorcih preko RASFF sistema. V okviru programa potekajo analize glavonožcev, rib iz ribogojstva, velikih morskih rib in živih školjk, občasno tudi rakov. Vsebnost onesnaževal se določa v mišičnini organizmov skladno z določili veljavnih EU uredb za določanje prisotnosti težkih kovin ter dioksinov in PCB v organizmih. V okviru programa se v organizmih spremlja vsebnost težkih kovin (kadmij, svinec, živo srebro, nikelj) ter vsebnost dioksinov in dioksinom podobnih in nepodobnih PCB.
