The Nitrates Directive aims to reduce and prevent nitrate pollution from agriculture in groundwaters and surface waters, and to prevent eutrophication in freshwaters, coastal and marine waters.

This page presents Nitrates Directive reporting in the period 2020-2023, based on data electronically reported to the EEA, Eurostat and other EU official sources. It accompanies the Country Staff Working Documents on the implementation of the Nitrates Directive in the Member States for the period 2020-2023.
