Method used
'The establishment of environmental targets has been based on the following principles: - The targets have been formulated in Danish. It is the Danish version that has been through public consultation and has been politically approved. The paper version in Danish of the Danish Marine Strategy submitted on the 15th of October 2012 is, therefore, to be regarded as the formal document with regards to environmental targets. Should there be inconsistencies between the Danish paper version and the English version as reported in this database, the Danish version will apply. - The environmental targets are established with the aim of achieving good environmental status (GES) or as intermediate targets leading towards GES - The targets setting is based on an ecosystem based approach (as defined at the joint HELCOM/OSPAR Environmental Minister Meeting in 2003 in Bremen, Germany). - The environmental targets are formulated either qualitatively or quantitatively. - Targets set are a combination og state, pressure, impact and operational targets as specified in table MSFD10_Targets. - The targets have in general been established for the entire Danish sea area. The targets apply to both the Baltic Sea region and the marine subregion of the Greater North Sea, including Kattegat, unless otherwise specified. - Denmark has not defined seperate assessment units and has, therefore, not established seperate targets for particular areas, unless specificly specified. - Target treshholds etc have not yet been defined. Target indicators have been defined. - Targets have not yet been set for the following criteria/subcriteria: 1.3.2, 1.5.2, 3.1.2, 3.2.2, 3.3, 6.2.3, 5.1.2, 10.1.3, 11.2.1. Reasons for this has been given in the comments field data base table: frmMSFD - formular, sheet 9_GES.
