Description of use/activity
COMMERCIAL FISHERIES INCLUDING FISH, SHELLFISH, CEPHALOPODS ETC. The trend appears almost stable with small; fluctuations around 100000 tn annually.
INTENSIVE AND SEMI INTENSIVE AQUACULTURE OF FINFISH AND SHELLFISH - Aquaculture in Greece started in 1984 in the Ionion Sea (1 farm) and the Aegean Sea (1 farm) producing in total 400 tn. Today, production has reached annually 110000 tn and with increasing trends. - The analysis is based on actual census data. - Spatially the activity is carried out along the coast.
USE OF BEACHES - BATHING, RECREATION AS A WHOLE - Greece is stable positioned 2nd in the world in relation to the number of beaches awarded with the 'Blue Flag'
ALL TYPES OF TOURISM - Greece is the 16th-17th in ranking for arrivals of tourists since 2005. However in terms of income Greece has lost position from 12th (2005) to 19th (2011). The income of the sector has been stable since 2005 at 10.5-11.3 bin euros. - data are derived from statistical reports
"There is no temporal nature in this activity since the construction of new ports is not planned in the hear future. There are 12 main ports, 32 harbours and a total of 1250 small refuges and marinas around Greece. From these, 22 are caharacterised as international since more than 1.5 million tones of goods or more than 200000 passengers are distributed through these ports. The port activity includes the distribution of goods and passengers which are values that show trends. "

Limitations
As a result of this study, it is obvious that the official statistial authorities in Greece need to re-adapt their survey schemes so that they are collecting the indicators required for MSFD reporting including gegraphical separation of data, NACE correspondance of data. In addition several indicators are not reported as well as other data which could hel their calculation (for example added value).

Production value: description
Production value shows a slight increase indicating the catch of more marketable species and fluctuates between 480 and 490 mil euros.
Production value is stable around 190-200 mil euros annually. . - The analysis is based on actual census data. - Spatially the activity is carried out along the coast.
The economic value of the beach is related to the value for its protection that users are willing to pay for their protection equal to 6.15 euros per person. The actual production value is expected to be higher since in most organise beaches today in Greece there are services offered (seat, umbrella, coffee/refreshments) and therefore there is revenue created
The Aegean Sea and its islands are very popular destination for tourists as indicated by the production vaule of 3.1-3.3 bln euros. - Spatially the activity is mainly coastal by 80% (expert judgement) - data are derived from statistical reports
Most ports are located in the Aegean Sea due to its high level of geographical diversity and number of islands. In addition, Aegean is the major tourist destination in relation to the Ionion Sea and therefore, larger and well equiped ports with higher incomes generated from their uses, exist. In the Ionion Sea most major ports are related only to the highway network and act as commerce portals towards Europe

Value added: description
Added value is estimated around 21-22 mill euros as a result of very low interest to process the fisheries products rather than sell them whole-fresh.
Added Value of the sector is around 18-19 mil euros as a result of very few amounts that are processed (fillet etc.) since the main mode is to sell whole-fresh-chilled fish. . - The analysis is based on actual census data. - Spatially the activity is carried out along the coast.
No information exist regarding the revenues from the manageemtn of beaches and therefore, no information exists for added value
Added Value of tourism is rather low as a combined effect of inefficient infrastructture, negative legsiulation for curises, ineffiecient ports etc, and is around 600-610 mill euros.- data are derived from statistical reports
Unknown, relevant statistical authority and unions do not keep or publish such specific data

Employment: description
Employment is more or less stable around 38000 people and shows signs of reduction owed to the low productivity of the resources, reluctance of young to enter the profession and the decommissioning of vessels
According to the Federation, the labour force is 10000 people. Specific data do not exist. - The analysis is based on Federation reports and expert judgement.
There is no particular information related to the employement for services offered in the organised beaches. Exepert judgements proivides an estimate of 1000 in total (life guards etc.)
The tourism industry in Aegean employs 583891 people but this havs been reduced lately due to the crisis. - data are derived from statistical reports

Aquaculture is known to affect the close by areas (up to 100 m around the cages) with orgnaicv material orginating from fish feces, food leftovers and detritus - "The costs include the reduction of income in terms of production value and added value due to the alteration of marine waters quality until 2020. The losses are for trhe private sector
