Q4f - Programme description | An introduction to the monitoring of Non-indigenous species is available in the HELCOM Monitoring manual - http://www.helcom.fi/action-areas/monitoring-and-assessment/monitoring-manual/introduction#NIS
General information on monitoring of Non-indigenous species is available in the HELCOM Monitoring manual - http://www.helcom.fi/action-areas/monitoring-and-assessment/monitoring-manual/non-indigenous-species/
General information is also available on the Sub-program fact sheet: Non-indigenous species (see sections: description/regional coordination/purpose of monitoring) - http://www.helcom.fi/action-areas/monitoring-and-assessment/monitoring-manual/non-indigenous-species/non-indigenous-species |

|
Q5f - Description of programme for GES assessment | GES is defined by the number of new introductions of NIS. The monitoring provides data to determine where the GES is achieved. The monitoring collects data from all biological monitoring but the monitoring of NIS is not yet operational in ports. That would improve the adequacy to assess GES. This is under development within HELCOM. |
|
Q5g - Gap-filling date for GES assessment | By2018 |
|
Q5h - Plans to implement monitoring for GES assessment | HELCOM has suggested and tested a monitoring strategy and methods for NIS monitoring in ports. This has not yet been implemented in Finland but it is expected to be implemented by 2018. |

Q6d - Description of programme for targets assessment | The ultimate goal is to prevent the arrival of invasive species and the mid-term goal is to slow down the arrival of invasive species. In addition, the aim is that undesirable effects of harmful and very harmful mammals are minimized in particularly important bird areas of the archipelago.
The progress towards the target will be monitored by a number of indicators. |
