|
Northern Adriatic rocky outcrops show striking differences from typical Mediterranean coralligenous assemblages, because of the peculiar biogeographical and phisical characteristics of the basin. Offshore outcrops subject to low turbidity and eutrophication levels had several characteristic Mediterranean coralligenous taxa. |

Status Description |
The extent of the habitat is stable. However, along the coastal waters characterized by urban, industrial and agricultural pressures and impacts there are moderate signs of regression. The status of the extension of the habitat is in line with natural physiographic, geographic and climatic conditions, as well as the pressures that today insist in the evaluation, producing nevertheless some changes in spatial / temporal extent of the meadows. |
Harbours, coastal development, seawage discharges and invasive species impacts indirectly the habitat and are cause of its homogenization. Fishing activities (trawling, trammels and long lines) and, in few cases, anchoring and diving activities impact directly the habitat causing a mosaic of patches with different assemblage structure. |
