For all target species exploited by commercial fisheries subject to national and international analytical management plans, together with the main small pelagic species (anchovy and sardine), which currently have fishing mortality above the relevant sustainable reference limit, estimated taking into account a “precautionary margin” based on levels of uncertainty, either statistically or empirically (e.g. the percentiles approach), is reduced by 2020, current fishing mortality (Fcurr) or “exploitation rate” (E) in accordance with the requirements of the Multiannual Management Plans of the CFP, the objectives of which are to bring the stocks under sustainable conditions by 2020.

By 2020, the impact of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing) has been reduced and knowledge of the effects of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU fishing) on fishery resources and biodiversity has increased, including through the implementation at national level of Regulation (EU) No 1005/2008 to combat IUUF.

A regulation of recreational fishing in Italian marine waters shall be prepared by 2020 and a first assessment of its impact shall be carried out.

Vessels operating with fishing gear which interact with the seabed in active is equipped with tools for recording and reporting position of vessels themselves, in particular those equipped with hydraulic dredges and bottom trawls with LOA < 15 m.
