The satellite calibrate their data against a fixed buoy each day as it passes over the buoy. The satellites reading is then compared with the buoy's registration. The raw data that are are transmitted from the satellite are brought together and each pixel in the images gets a mark of quality and areas where the images have missed some areas are marked.

Max 397  samples from 39 sampling events (series) from 3 stations (unique locations) during 2011. Assumes pH/alk tested at all sampled depths and no samples lost or deleted during QC. (4 stations sampled during 2011 – 2012).
National monitoring - 6 samples (sediment cores) from 7 locations for each of the 3 stations/ every 6 years = Ca. 126 sediment cores in the North Sea during the 6-year reporting cycle.
