Measure description
The aim of the measure is to obtain an assessment of the situation for economically important fish and shellfish species in the GSA17-North Adriatic Sea. To date, only certain commercially important species are assessed. The assessment of the situation is being prepared at GSA17 level and is the responsibility of the GFCM. The measure is an upgrade of the measure from the NUMO (2017-2021). Activity: (1) Assessment of the situation for commercially important fish and shellfish species at GFCM level GSA17 in the context of the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy.
The measure addresses the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy, which is a matter of EU competence and concerns the management of a common resource at European level at European level, in order to enable, by regulating the capacity of the Member States’ fishing fleets, a level of commercial fishing to restore and maintain populations of harvested species above levels which enable sustainable yields to be achieved. The content of the measure is updated by the new legislation. Action assigned a new Activity code: Implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy.
The measure addresses existing legislation governing the fisheries reserves and aims to protect economically important species of fish and other marine organisms. Two zones are declared in marine waters under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Slovenia: Portorosk Fishing Reserve and Strunjan Fishing Reserve. Activity: (1) Prohibited commercial and sport fishing in fishing reserves, except as provided for in sectoral legislation.
