Potekati bi moral redni monitoring, saj ni dovolj razpoložljivih podatkov, zgolj rezultati posameznih meritev (razen nekaj v školjkah). Vključiti bi bilo potrebno tudi druge organizme, ki so pomembni za prehrano ljudi. Določiti je potrebno referenčne vrednosti in jih regionalno uskladiti.
