Environmental information systems
This section presents the assessments reported to the European Commission by EU Member States under different legal instruments that contribute to the protection of Europe’s seas, namely the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the Species and Habitats directives and Bathing Water Directive (BWD).
Data sources used in the Country Profiles
- MSFD Competent Authorities: competent authorities for the implementation of the MSFD at the national level, as last reported in the Eionet Central Data Repository (CDR).
- Assessment of the MSFD “State” Descriptors as reported under Article 8 in 2018: overall status of the different features assessed by "State" Descriptor under the MSFD, as reported by Mamber States for the 2018 reporting exercise in the Eionet Central Data Repository (CDR).
