Integration rule description for parameters
The integration was based on physical disturbance, hypoxia, water quality, red list assessment, benthic fauna (mud), macroalgae (hard substrate) and Habitats Directive assessment (http://www.ymparisto.fi/[…]/133890).
No integration was applied for macrofaunal index B characterizing soft bottom benthic broad habitats and macrophyte index SM1 characterizing hard bottom broad habitats.
Values achieved of index B and index SM1 were normalized according to the method applied in the HELCOM second holistic assessment of the Baltic Sea (http://stateofthebalticsea.helcom.fi/). The weighted averaging was applied to normalized values with 50% weight coefficient providing BQRs.The resulting BQRs (biological quality ratios) were compared with the threshold value of 0.6 indicating good environmental status.
It was not possible to integrate state between habitat types or between criteria.
